I can't make the time and date for my chosen topic, what do I do?

Each webinar session will be recorded and made available to all participants after the completion of the series. A report summarising the sessions and the outcomes will also be written and made available.

Alternatively, you could forward the EOI to another member of your organisation or agency who can attend.

Why are the topics of Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs, and Older Persons not being covered?

Brisbane North PHN have strong relationships through partnership groups, lived experience networks and current regional plans in the areas of Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs and Older Persons.

Extensive consultation have and continue to occur with these groups and networks to co-design and develop solutions to address identified needs.

Why are only certain needs within health areas being dicussed in the webinar workshops?

Health and service needs for discussion have been selected by the PHN for a number of reasons, including:

    • the PHN has greater influence in addressing the selected health and service needs
    • to help inform existing activities
    • the needs may require more innovate solutions
    • the needs impact and involve many different sectors, services and health professionals
    • the PHN would like contribution from a wide range of stakeholders

What do I need to do to prepare for the webinar workshops?

In preparation for the webinar workshops you have registered for, it is recommended that you:

    • Read the provided information sheets for your chosen topic areas that are available in the document library (right-hand side of screen)
    • Familiarise yourself with the Partner, Provide and Procure approaches to developing solutions.
    • Attend the Introductory Webinar held on Monday 21 February 3:30pm. This webinar is intended to give participants the opportunity to familiarize themselves with topic areas, the considerations in proposing or developing solutions, ask questions about the workshop process and meet other attendees.
    • Optional: A video describing the journey of developing the Health Needs Assessment is also available on this webpage. If you would like to know more about how the HHS and PHN jointly collaborated and how health and service needs were identified, please watch here.

What will the PHN do with proposed solutions?

The PHN considers the webinar workshops series as an opportunity to work with stakeholders in developing potential ideas on how to progress with future activity.

Solutions that are generated in these webinar workshops will be used to inform the co-design and development of future activity. Given the PHN has limited resources, generated solutions will be collated and further considered for the purpose of determining feasibility.

Who can I contact if I have questions?

Please e-mail planning@brisbanenorthphn.org.au - we will endeavour to respond to queries within 1-2 business days.

What is a Health Needs Assessment (HNA)?

A Health Needs Assessment is a way of identifying the health and service needs of our community. It helps to determine people's health priorities, how to fairly spread resources, and plan programs or activities that support people's health needs.

Brisbane North PHN conducted a Health Needs Assessment in partnership with Metro North Health. Metro North Health is the public hospital and health service for the north side of Brisbane (read more about them here). In 2021 hospital and health services across Queensland were required to undertake a Local Area Needs Assessment (LANA) for their respective catchment. This is equivalent to the PHN's HNA.

    Who is Brisbane North PHN?

We are one of 31 Primary Health Networks (PHN) across Australia. We support clinicians and communities in Brisbane’s northern suburbs, Moreton Bay Regional Council and parts of Somerset Regional Council (map).

    Our key objectives are to:

    • increase the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients—particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes
    • improve coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.

One of the PHN's roles is to understand the healthcare needs of our community. We do this this looking at health service gaps and working with community and health services to develop and deliver plans to address them.
