The overall aim of this project is to monitor and improve the lived experience engagement of young people in mental health services in the Brisbane North Region.
The project will be led by the Regional Youth Advisory Group (RYAG) and will involve the development of:
a checklist that services and organisations will use to understand their current level of lived experience engagement.
a tool that provides practical support on how to improve lived experience engagement if it does not meet the guidelines stipulated in the checklist.
capacity building support to organisations in the form of a presentation/workshop to ensure that services understand the use and importance of the created tool.
The RYAG is a group of six young people from across Brisbane North. Everyone in the group has had their own struggles with mental health and are passionate about improving mental health services for their peers. We know how hard it can be to get help, especially when it feels like the services you talk to don’t really get what you’re going through or what you need to feel safe and supported.
We are reaching out to young people and youth services all over the Brisbane North area to get their ideas on how they think services can better work with young people to make improvements. We would love to hear your ideas and better understand how young people like to give feedback and be involved in participation opportunities.
If you have any questions, please email RYAG@brisbanenorthphn.org.au and the project lead, Mahalia, will get back to you with more information
