The 7 Primary Health Network (PHN) organisations within Queensland have formed a consortium and are working to make an assessment of training pathways that enable GP Registrars (Registrars) to complete all training within the PHN region, including advice on gaps that require Registrars to rotate into other locations to complete their training.
The aim of the inaugural Training Pathways Report is to:
In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, map (within the defined and agreed scope) and provide information on where the different elements/rotations of the training pipeline are possible in Queensland, encouraging early career planning and navigation.
Provide greater visibility and transparency of GP training opportunities to support Registrars to complete their training in a single region (if they desire) as they progress through the AGPT training pathway to fellowship.
Support the GP Colleges to make Registrar placements that consider the extent to which Registrars will have the opportunity to train where they want to work by offering connected training opportunities.
