Statewide Clinical Yarning Circle recommencing
[from Metro North Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Team]
I would like to announce the recommencement of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership hosted Statewide Clinical Yarning Circle.
We have so many great topics planned for free 2 hr CPD points and increasing your knowledge and confidence with the clinical application of Culturally Safe and Responsive Palliative Care. These will be held Monthly on the last Thursday of every month. It is ok if you are unable to attend in person, these will be recorded and you can watch them in your own time.
At the end of the session there will be a QR code with some questions to help you record your CPD and it will also allow us to send you a certificate of attendance.
To kick us back off we have a recorded presentation by Dr Amy Montgomery who has completed postdoctoral research fellow and also a Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years of aged care and palliative care experience. Amy will be presenting a workshop on Delerium in palliative care and this will be available to view via a link I will send to you on the 30th June 2026.
Following this we have secured guest speakers who will help us delve into some great topics including:
- Types of Abuse in Aged care and palliative care: how to assess, what to look for, how to report and what to do including a Culturally Responsive approach on the holistic assessment and support of abuse in palliative care and aged care
- CKD using a storytelling approach: What happens in the body, how do we assist patients and their families and how does this link with other multimorbidity’s
- Managing perianal and breast wounds in palliative care for First Nations Peoples what are the holistic and Cultural Considerations
- Balancing the Balance of Heart Failure in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations
